Mary Lake Thompson Recipe Towels – Are you wondering about gift ideas for someone who loves to cook? Years ago, when we still received APO parcels in the post, several of the packaged items were wrapped with decorative flour sack kitchen towels.
The towels were used to protect the gifts but they were also a gift for the home. Some were calendar towels, others were colored flour sack towels or seasonal designs for Thanksgiving and Christmas but every so often we found recipe dish towels.

Those were particularly fun to collect. We still have some of the towels!
So imagine my delight when I came across the very colorful Mary Lake Thompson recipe towels.
It was like a flash back to the past when Dad brought a battered box home from work and we waited patiently to open it with everyone gathered around.
It always included the Thanksgiving or Christmas Ideals© magazine and some of the most colorful kitchen towels – almost too pretty to use.
Decorative kitchen towels quickly became the easiest and traditional way to decorate the kitchen during the Holidays.
Even my mother-in-law Margaret added a spark of color to the kitchen with decorative towels but hers were calendar towels.
She would love the 2018 Blue Willow version and I’d be willing to wager that she would find a way to incorporate it in the Spode dinnerware displays at the store.
Pick any one of the towels – they are perfect as gift ideas for someone who loves to cook.

The wonderful thing about Mary Lake Thompson recipe towels is their huge assortment but please note that they are very popular and tend to disappear quickly.
If you like it – buy it. Many of the popular recipe towels I selected last year are no longer available. 🙁
They come in a wide variety of categories from: Seasonal recipes for stuffing, eggnog and chocolate peppermint bark are perfect for holiday gift giving – both the baked goods and the towel!
Here’s another idea! Wrap the cheese board knife set in a brightly colored towel that includes a recipe for fresh tomato salsa!
Surely you will find the perfect recipe towel to make that perfect gift for the foodie on your gift list.
Anyone one of these towels makes a perfect hostess gift. Imagine it as the liner in a gift basket – instead of tissue paper!
I particularly love the Christmas tree on the Holiday Eggnog towel. It looks so much like the one we had back in the 50s.
At the time we lived in a communist country where the idea of putting up a decorated tree was not on the agenda. Very few trees were available for the Christmas holiday. Our tree was reminiscent of the Charlies Brown tree and mostly decorated with homemade ornaments.
Nor was eggnog a part of the festivities but other equally rich concoctions brought in from neighboring countries made for a respectable equivalent. I’m positive I have never tasted eggnog made from scratch. These days, I drink eggnog as soon as I see it in the supermarket dairy aisle. Southern comfort.
With just a few days left to shop, I am going to pick the perfect Mary Lake Thompson recipe towel for each of the foodies in my family!
